Michael Tait shocked fans today by announcing on his socials that he is stepping down as the lead singer of the Newsboys. Both Tait and the Newsboys shared messages online about his departure.
“Fifteen years ago, my life was forever changed when I received the invite to step into the role of lead singer for Newsboys. The years since have been some of the most fulfilling, faith-filled, and rewarding years of my life.”
Tait replaced former Newsboys lead singer Peter Furler in 2009. Since then, the band has released multiple albums, the most recent being Worldwide Revival (Pt. 1) in 2024. They were also featured in the God’s Not Dead movies and are well known for their song “God’s Not Dead.”
